I'm running with a running group on Sundays for my long runs. I'm running 2 half marathons this Fall. I feel I do better in my half marathons when I run higher distances on long runs - I trained up to 14 miles for my last half in April, 15 miles was my highest for distance for my first half last summer.
I'm currently running with the marathoners for my long runs - at what distance should I train up to? I'm not sure if going beyond 15 miles for my long runs would be beneficial? What's the highest long run mileage you did when you trained for a half?
I've only gone up to like 12 I think once but normally only up to 11. If you feel better by going up to 14 then I would just do that unless you want to start training for a full
I went up to 14 once, but that was on accident (we forgot to turn around). Otherwise my long runs have capped out at 12-13 miles. I don't see anything wrong with going up to 14-15 miles since this isn't your first HM, but after that I'd resist the urge to keep going with the marathoners

I did a 15 mile run once and it helped I think since I followed up my half with a 25K. However, like others have said, I think I'd cap it at 15/16 and focus on higher weekly mileage with more speedwork than doing anything over 16.
Thanks for all the great advice:) I have been incorporating more tempo runs into my training schedule and will stick to long runs at around 14-15 miles. I'm not sure how to make those work with my running group but I will figure out a way:)
