I have three weeks until IMLP. Yesterday was my last 100-mile ride. It was also my worst, probably since it was 87 degrees with ridiculously high humidity! I also threw a mountain climb in for good measure. My post-ride run was definitely not too great (felt like puking), but I managed. Today's hill repeats (running) went better that I anticipated too, despite the humidity. Luckily I am at my parents' lake house and was able to jump in the lake after these sweat fests!
My taper starts now and I am looking forward to it! I could use some rest!
Question for you. I'm about 7 weeks out from my race and I AM EXHAUSTED!! And I'm not even working right now. I wanted to get 50-60 miles in today and I just couldn't . I did about 32 miles of hills. I just don't think I could have kept going. Next week I have a 7-8 hour ride planned and I want to be as fresh as possible for that. Is this totally normal? Am I doomed? Lol!!

Very normal. About a month ago, I mentioned to DH that I was feeling tired for no apparent reason. He replied... "Ummm...Ironman training?" Duh!! I forgot how much it wipes you out!
Take naps when you can. It helps! Also, be careful not to overdo it! You don't have to do those super long rides every weekend. I've done four centuries (mid-May, early June, mid-June, and yesterday). The first IM, I did three. My other rides are generally in the 2-3 hour range, depending on the goal.

I forgot. Are you working with a coach?
Yes.
You don't need to do a lot of centuries! I would say minimum of two.
Does your coach give you specifics for your rides? Is it based on speed to power? Are you doing intervals or just going out to ride?

Interval rides during the week, zone two for the long ride.
Good. It sounds like you're doing the right stuff. Just be sure to listen to your body. If the ride isn't going well, don't let it become junk miles. When you are tired, be sure to get some real sleep. Now that summer is here, you can get some naps in too!
