I joined a game yesterday, before the second GBCN dietbet started, and was charged $2.95 for a "registration package and starter kit." I went with it because it's a small fee and I figured it was basically like a tax. I joined another game and was not charged that fee. When the GBCN game started I dropped out of the second game and went to join GBCN. BUT I am being charged that same fee again. WTH? Then some people said they weren't charged that fee at all. Double WTH! So I contacted dietbet and this is their response.
You are being charged $2.95 in "DietBet Part 2!" for the Registration Fee and Starter Kit. Early adopters in the game, or those who have been playing on Dietbet for an extended period of time prior to the registration fee, do not have to pay the fee, so that is why some of them are telling you they have not been charged.
The fee for this is normally $4.95, but from time to time the fee is discounted, depending on the game. Each registration fee t covers a game-specific assessment, and is part of the price to join the game.
If you have any further questions, please let me know.
DietBet also keeps 20% of the total pot. So, if 100 people are playing at a $25 bet, plus a $4.95 registration fee, they make $2,995 off that single game. For doing nothing more that hosting a website and checking people's before and after photos. Not to mention that there are games with pots well over $10k. The idea is sheer genius.

No. I received a "Player's Guide" which is a compilation of what they have on their site and a "Daily Carrot" email. I did get a pop up after I submitted my weigh in photos saying that I should eat X amount of calories.
As I said, I didn't mind being charged it in the first place, but the second charge for the same thing threw me right over the edge.

That was the personal assessment. Totally worth $2.95, right? Lol.
