I went to my first yoga class last night and really enjoyed it. I think that it will really help me with some issues I am having and make me stronger for other fitness activities (cycling, walk/run). I know that it will be a wait and see how my body reacts kind of thing, but I was looking for feedback from others that might do yoga as one part of their fitness routine. I don't want to set the bar too high, but I was thinking of trying to go for three times a week (mind body class, not power) but didn't know if that was too much at start. Basically just looking for some feedback.
My current workout schedule is MWF - walk/run - training for Space Coast HM - don't care about time just want to finish to get that medal TRSa/Su - cycling - two rides are more interval focused, one ride is a long ride and if I ride a fourth day it is just a cruise around town type of ride - nothing serious at all - training for metric in Sept. and hopefully a few CX races in Oct/Nov - I do care about my cycling. I am not fast by any means, but I want to be better at it (as compared to running).
I was thinking of doing the yoga on TRSu - basically the cycling days. Bike in am and yoga at night. I don't know if that makes sense, but was going to try it. I didn't know if anyone would have any feedback/advice if they have done anything similar.
My favorite time to do yoga is after a short- to mid-distance run (but not directly after). An hour-long restorative class is especially nice; power vinyasa can be pretty exhausting. I bet you'd feel pretty good doing it post-ride! My run schedule is Sa/Su, Tu/We/Th, and I like to fit yoga in on Sunday nights, Wednesday afternoons, and Thursday evenings.
I am currently training for 2 half marathons in the fall - averaging 30 miles a week of running and I have been doing strenuous hot yoga 2-3 times a week. I love it - The yoga has helped with upper body strength and my flexibility is slowly getting better:)
I usually run in the mornings and do yoga in the evening. I think 3 days a week is great:)

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear such positive results.
Yes, Sadle, I have the two late October races penciled in on the calendar and waiting for our southern neighbors to release their schedule since some of those are closer than ones in-state. My issues with grip strength are starting to disappear and I am able to handle the handlebars better and pick up my bike without dropping it - unlike last year which is what kept me from coming out.

Savannah....don't forget Savannah...and Macon!
Yes, those are the two penciled in for October. FLCX wouldn't be until December. Savannah would be dependent on if H decides to do the Boston mini marathon as it is the same weekend.
