Never been on a cruise, and I'm not sure if it's up my alley, but for the right price, I would try one.
I have heard many negative reviews on Carnival, but I would still try it out (including that ship) just for the heck of it if it was really cheap and I liked the itinerary.
I bet it's the safest boat to take right now, lol. Carnival will do anything to make sure that ship sails seamlessly
I agree with this, but I wonder how much of my time on that boat would be spent thinking "There probably was raw sewage sloshing all over the place RIGHT HERE."
Which is true about a lot of places, but usually it is vague enough or far enough in the past or irrelevant enough to the current circumstances that it doesn't cross your mind.
I'm looking at March 2014 and am open to a beachy stay in Galveston. What is Galveston like? Will it be warm enough to sit on the beach, go swimming, etc?
I have limited dates because its spring break at the office.
I would have no problem booking a cruise on the Triumph. And I would definitely rather take a cruise than stay in Galveston a few days. The water is kind of gross and it's just not a nice beachy place. I only live a few hours away from Galveston by car but if we feel like going to the beach, we'll fly somewhere.
Absolutely not. We just went on a Disney cruise and a carnival ship was next to us in Port Canaveral. It looked like it was very poorly maintained in the outside. I can only imagine how other things are on that ship. I. Contrast, the Disney ship was immaculate. They were cleaning and painting at every stop we made.
But Disney cruises are like 2x the cost of others, so not a MM bargain lol.
ETA: Yes, I would but I've been on 4 Carnival cruises before & enjoyed them.
I know, just personal preference. A lot of my friends and family love them. I just feel so confined when I travel that way. But trust me, plenty of friends think we are nuts with the way we travel (backpack, just pick country and make plans as we go.)

Vigurl...just wanted to say, if you can ever swing a B2B, do it! We've done 3 on RC and loved them. We choose ships that go to different islands each week. It is so neat to see the differences in passengers from one week to the next. And having that day in between pretty much all to yourselves is awesome!!
Seriously my heart melted reading your post...just the thought of a B2B ...heaven! I think that has to be my next savings goal!

LOL. I'd be thinking of Shawshank Redemption a lot.
Andy Dufresne - who crawled trough a river of shit and came out clean on the other side.
Carnival is the only cruise line In Galveston/Houston that does 3, 4 or 5 day cruises. All other lines are 7 days
Yeah which is why I am seriously considering it. If we take the train from my house to Houston, that alone takes three FULL days with an overnight (on land) in New Orleans. So if I am taking a week long cruise, and doing a three full day train trip, and spending some time with my friends, now I am talking about a two week long vacation. I was trying to shoot for more like 10 days, which is already a long time to be away from my dog.

I would do it. Where do you live? Why are you taking the train? Would it be faster to drive? Also do a fare alert for cheap flights.
