finishing week 2 of my 1/2 marathon training. runs are feeling more comfortable and tomorrow i go for my longest run EVER - 4 miles and i am so excited. i did 3.5 the other day and i could have gone longer but ran out of time.
i am averaging 10:15 min/mi. DH said i should set a goal time or min/mi for the race? is it too early (wk 2) to think about time. i have 23 weeks total to train.
You need to get through the miles first. I really had to slow down when I got into higher mileage. I was about a minute slower.
I agree. 4 miles is nothing like 13. I can hold a 9:10 pace pretty easily through 9 miles, but anything after that slows me down to like 9:30. I think you'll need to get up into that sort of mileage first before coming up with a goal.
Have you done a 5K? You can plug that time into McMillian and see what he suggests for a pace. But I agree with the othrs 13.1 is really different than 3.1. I don't actually think it is harder, just different. I can push my body a lot harder and still finish 3.1, 13.1 doesn't work the same way.
