Precancerous cells can be found almost anywhere in the body - the airways, the cervix, the skin, and more. Precancerous cells do not always become cancerous. There are several different degrees of precancerous cells, and if the changes are only mild, cancer seldom develops. But these cells may also be a sign that action needs to be taken to prevent cancer.
The pancreas is a complex organ with many different types of cells in it. Each of these cell types may give rise to different types of tumors. The correct diagnosis of the tumor type is important since the prognosis for survival is dependant on the tumor type and surgical removal of some tumors in the pancreas can be associated with a normal life span. Often the type of tumor that is present in the pancreas can be diagnosed from specialized studies such as radioisotope studies and CT scans.
THose cells are going bad and if left alone, might turn into pancreatic cancer. Your dad has dodged a HUGE bullet here. I bet the docs are going to recommend surgery to get that out as soon as possible.

Omg precancerous does not mean cells are "going bad". Like I posted above, precancerous cells do not always become cancerous, they are just abnormal and have a possibility of becoming cancerous.
