I've been doing WW meetings until the past month and a half. The meetings just aren't working for me and my schedule unless I bring one of my kids, so I feel like it's pointless since I am just focusing on them instead of what's being said anyways.
I'm thinking of doing a calorie tracker online that isn't WW, but not sure which one to use. I like WW b/c I feel like points are kind of easy, but I don't like the "free" foods like fruit or the fact that I can't see how much overall protein, fat, etc. I'm consuming. Plus paying for something vs. getting it for free isn't too shabby either if I switch.
My biggest concern with making the switch is how to make room for "life" like WW does with their flex points. I know splurge days have been discussed before, but I didn't really pay attention to the answers since I was doing WW and didn't feel like it applied to me.
MFP is good, but I prefer Livestrong. I'd recommend you try a few until you find an interface you like. Other options are SparkPeople, LoseIt!, and FitDay.

I've tried livestrong & MFP.. I like MFP better; maybe it's just because in the past I really didn't WANT to count calories, so i found it really tedious.. but MFP seems really user friendly. I agree the calorie counts are kind of low, but I'm managing.
I use sparkpeople.com I love it because it gives you the breakdown of everything you eat including calories, fat, carbs, sodium and your intake of vitamins for the day. You can also chart how you have been eating to see how you are staying on track. They also have their site with recipes that you can look up recipes that users have added and you can select what kind of diet you are on and what you would like to eat to narrow down the recipes. It has been compared to WW but is free!
I have never been able to do anything to lose weight. I have been successfully counting calories for 2-1/2 weeks. I realize this isn't very long, but it is longer than I have stuck to anything else! I also like that I can track workouts on it. I just joined a gym TODAY and have high expectations for myself of going as much as possible, I would like to go every day but I guess that wouldn't be good?
@reannalynne - set more realistic expectations for joining a gym. Start by scheduling 3x/week, and go from there. If you try to set a bunch of lofty goals from the start, you'll be much more easily frustrated.
