I actually wore cheap cargo pants that I found at the Goodwill, that way my legs wouldn't get scratched up from any of the obstacles. I just threw them away when it was over.
I wore spandex/compression capris that I picked up on sale from Target. I'm really glad I did. There were a lot of girls in regular shorts (like tempos) that were having to erm...dig out mud/junk from their shorts. It didn't look pretty.
I ran the Warrior Dash. It took us through water, mud pits, etc.
I did the Warrior Dash and wore basic running shorts with the built in underwear and I had no issues. No falling down, no mud in questionable places. It was fine.

I wore Nike tempo running shorts on my last mud run and I regret it. We got more "wet" than muddy and they kept ridding up. *Bonus* there are 3 pics of me picking my crotch wedgie
I recommend wear capris or long compression type shorts that wont ride up or sag. Especially the capri part, bc my knees got torn up from crawling, etc.

I wore longish shorts and wish I had worn something different. My shorts were falling down and I ended up rolling them to make them work better. So cute. :/ Of course I look like a total fat kid in all the pictures.
Ok, clearly I'm the only one who didn't have an issue. (Although the girl I ran with didn't either.) Err on the side of caution and listen to everyone else I guess. lol Better safe than sorry.

I wore the same kind... but I will notate that my knees were jacked for 2 full weeks after! I had scrapes, bruises, and "mud burn". I suggest capris!

I would suggest my setup, under armour tight shorts (compression, maybe?), and I used my under armour escape shorts (similar to Nike pacer). The tight layer kept a lot of mud off my skin in that area and kept me covered up while crawling around. The reg shorts on top kept me feeling covered. No wedgies! Obviously brands don't matter... I picked those pieces up on sale for $3 each in advance for the race. I loved the shorts but I knew they would be sacrificed. I wouldn't wear anything you think you will want. I ended up tossing everything in the donation bin. They were beyond saving.
Some girls I could see right through their tight shorts and pants... Others could barely keep shorts/pants up with the weight of mud.
I bought some target brand hand and face wipes in a tub near the paper cups I believe. Cleaned me up really well along with a hand towel and bottle water. My mud run (warrior dash) only had a smelly pool of water to clean up in, no hose or running water . It was not sanitary and I was happy that I bought those wipes and that my husband thought to bring small towels.
I also had some recovery gatorade my husband bought. It was green and wasn't the most pleasant taste but replenished me and gave me energy for the fun after.
I would recommend longer capris or tights. I did the Tough Mudder not long ago and was SO happy that I wore tights just because I avoided the majority of cuts and scrapes that the other people on my team had. It obviously didn't help with the bruises I had for weeks but....you do what you can
