Will you tell me about your nutrition/fitness background? I'm sure you've talked about it before, but I'm super curious what you do at the gym and how you eat and your philosophy and beliefs about food. If you don't feel like talking about it, that's cool.
I do not have any formal training in nutrition of fitness, but I am personally really geeked out on this stuff. I spend a lot of time reading nutrition studies and stuff. I think that makes me a dork lol.
I eat Paleo. I swear, I'm not an evangelical (I know there's a lot of Paleo hate here). But I do believe that people can do some amazing things (reverse health conditions as an example) by eating whole foods. I follow all the blogs and podcasts and when there's a study or article attached, I read it. What I've learned from doing this is that the government recommendations for diet are approximately the exact opposite of what the medical studies are saying. I think that's stupid.
I Crossfit and I have a special interest in weightlifting. One day a week, I take a weightlifting class with Holly mangold, who competed in the London Olympics. I compete in any competition within a couple hours of me and I've done one weightlifting meet. I'd like to do more. My ultimate goal is to compete on my gyms team at CF regionals in the next five years before I have a kid.
Hi! I started doing CrossFit a year ago and have been loosely following a Paleo diet for the last few months. I was working with one of my coaches once a week for a couple of months on snatch and clean and jerk, but haven't done much of either since I moved to another state. My new gym does an insane amount of squat work, but not much in the way of other lifts.
I was just curious to find out more about you since it's clear you're pretty passionate about this stuff. So, thanks for sharing! If you come across any particularly interesting articles that are worth a read, I'd love to see them.
