So I took the plunge and registered I've got this! In the meantime, i was hoping you ladies could recommend a hotel. Should we stay one property or off? I read somewhere that the buses are a nightmare, but the girlfriends I have who ran it last year said on property was a must.

What do you think?
If you're not a local, definitely stay on property. It will save you a lot of heartache and time.
Are you wanting to go with a value, moderate, or deluxe resort?
The buses were only bad afterwards. We had to wait foreverrrrrr. So this time I might bag check some clean up stuff and hang out at Epcot afterwards until it settles down.

I've mentioned this before but I'll do it here too, that I booked my Wine & Dine room at Port Orleans French Quarter with MEI-Mouse Fan Travel. They have blocks at the host hotels and it was cheaper than booking on my own with a discount. I swear I'm not gaining anything from them. I just like to share a good deal.
Just make sure the hotel you stay at is one of the host hotels. Otherwise there won't be bus service. You might already know that but I know people have been confused about it.

Thanks! Orlando is so damn big, local and still 25 minutes away! I read a few recaps that say you don't need to get there as early as they say, is there any truth to that?
I stayed at Port Orleans for Goofy and that's the only place I'll stay in the future. FWIW, traffic was so bad the day of the marathon, the buses rerouted and took a shortcut. I definitely would not want to get stuck in that traffic coming from offsite. It was nice to hop on a bus with no stress and let DH come to the race whenever he wanted.
