Things are humming along. Should be under contract very soon if not this week. Will be submitting our loan app to the bank Monday. Found a sweet construction to permanent deal.
Today we looked at counters and picked all our appliances and plumbing fixtures. I cannot wait to take that first shower and bath!!! H didn't know what a pedestal sink is. He said I picked a grandma sink.
I know there are some building, not me though. Hope we can see pictures as you get more done. What counters did you pick? Was this for kitchen or bath?
I told H that I'd like to build a new custom home someday. He said, "I thought that's what I was doing" Our 1940s house has been nearly a gut job and starting new from scratch seems so much easier and faster.

We are trying to layout the house so we can be sure how much of the lot we want to buy from our friends. I swear we've done over 50 different versions in the last 2 days. Tonight we scrapped it all and came up with something we think is much better. We are going to try to make a prelim pricing drawing set soon.
It was for the kitchen but we didn't actually pick the counters. It was supposed to just be a scouting mission to make sure we would be happy with the options at the price point the builder put into the bid. We didn't mean to actually pick all the plumbing fixtures and appliances but the supply co did such a great job on their bid that we just went ahead and made all the selections. We actually managed to come in under budget even after changing the master tub to an air bath!
We should swap, pitterwoo! I actually wanted to buy existing and renovate and H is the one that wanted to build. Of course I'm the one doing all the work.
bunny I cannot imagine being an architect and trying to design my own house! You have to share! I now have an obsession with floor plans
We closed 5/31 - woohoo! We moved in 3 weeks ago. So far so good for the most part. We have a couple minor issues but builder's services has been on top of it. We still have boxes to unpack, but it's all starting to come together.
I am a lurker, but want to start posting more now that we are getting close to breaking ground. We are building a custom house on property we have owned for 3 years. Should close in December. We just did cabinets and I think we are going to go with Cambria Torquay (white shaker cabinets). I want something simple, white base with grey, so I think that will be the best bet.
We're in week 4 of our reno. Only thing remaining is brick exterior. Interior is gutted, some framing is up & new footers are dug outside (for shop, new screened-in-porch)

We are sleeping here! We should have the official occupancy permit next week but the building inspector cleared us to sleep at the house. Since the painter is doing the trim verrry slowly we aren't 100% moved but our bed and clothes are all here.
