Long bath: done. Run wild: done. Braved outdoors for water table: done (mommy quit, he would've stayed there all day). And that's only filled two hours...
We only have window AC in our bedroom and C's, both of which are tiny and boring (no TV, no room for toys, etc). Luckily the rest of our apartment isn't that hot yet (mid 80s at the moment), so we've been playing in the living room.
We'll probably go to the Museum of Motherhood later to run wild. It's cool, and they have a play area. It's a bit pricey ($15), but C loves the climbing area. The indoor playground at Chelsea Piers ($12) is excellent but really crowded and difficult to get to. Children's Museum of Manhattan? AMNH and The Met are always really cold, but we don't have a membership to either.
Even on a good weather day, C is a monster if we stay home, so we'll need to venture out at some point.

Its actually suggested donations- it is funded publicly as well as privately, so if you pay taxes, you've more than paid your admission as per one of my college professors.

I know, but I feel like such a cheapskate paying less to enter such amazing buildings. But then the other part of me is still living in DC (I was there for a decade) where all of the Smithsonians and galleries are free, and I get a little indignant about paying anything.
Maybe I'll Met it up today. Speaking of which, NY-area ladies: the Met has a free story hour every day. I think C is still too young, but I play to go regularly once he's old enough.

Build a fort, let her play with the laundry basket, read books, let her run around, watch TV, long bath, give her a roll of TP and tell her to throw the peices away into the trash can, color.
I go to the gym (so he can play in the gym daycare, lol). I fill up the water table and baby pool on our balcony and let him hang in that, there is a nearby toystore with a small playspace I take him to, we occassionally brave the bookstore (although he now likes to basically detsroy the bookstore, so that is out), lots of play dates at people's houses.... We go out to breakfast and lunch a lot, just to get out....
This hot weather sucks. I feel like I spend all winter stuck inside - this is when we are supposed to be able to get out of the house!!

But seriously, maybe put some water in the tub and let him splash a little? We're doing Museum of Natural History today and probably the Children's Museum later this week. Audrey gets so cranky when she's inside all day. I'll probably go out with her in the morning and the evening to break it up.

This is why I love belonging to My Gym. Free Play!!! Other than that, I do what all of the PPs suggested. We build forts, destroy the house, and watch more TV than I'd like. We rarely play in his room, so I bust that out as a change of scenery. That'll keep him happy for an hour or more. I also try to come up with crazy bath ideas. Sometimes we add his ball pit balls to the bath tub. Sometimes I make different colored ice cubes and throw them in the tub to play with. The other day, I busted out some shaving cream to play with in the tub. It's been SOOOO rainy here, I've had to come up with all sorts of other options.

It's pouring here in OK.
I killed an hour at the gym while Graham was in the childcare. We went to the store for some meat to grill tonight. It was only 10 a.m. when we got home. After the usual play at home, he was bored. We attempted coloring, which killed about 10 minutes. Then he found my pump and took it apart.
It's only 1 p.m. and I know he'll be awake from his nap by 2. Our playdate just got canceled so I'm not sure what we'll do this afternoon.
Go to indoor play places (we have a bounce place, a huge indoor playscape place, Chikfila, and McDs), go shopping, go to a splashpad. They'll play in the backyard while I watch from inside if it's later in the day. Our yard is heavily shaded but it's still too hot for me after noon. They come in when they are ready. I'll make food with Jameson while Anna watches. I like the ice cubes and shaving cream in the bathtub ideas.
