I'm looking into replacing cabinets and counters in my condo kitchen. The condo was built in 1983 and has original cabinets, which are a honey-oak color. They aren't great quality cabinets and I don't love the layout, so I think I'd rather replace them than paint them.
I'm thinking that white cabinets might be a good choice for the space. The kitchen does not have any an exterior walls, which means there are no windows in the kitchen. The kitchen is open to the living room, which has a large window, but it's north-facing. I've always felt like the kitchen is a little dark. Also, it's not a huge space (10x10) so I thought maybe white cabinets would make it look bigger.
The thing is, I have fairly new appliances in the kitchen (all purchased in 2010) that I would like to keep, and the appliances are all white.
WDYT about white cabinets with white appliances? I have hesitations about that being too much white.
Here are a few examples I found. What do you think?
We had white cabinets and white appliances in our first home. With grey counters and grey and white backsplash, it was different enough that I liked it. I probably have pics in my blog.
I think it depends on a few factors. What color are the counters? Floor? Walls? Backsplash? As long as EVERYTHING isn't white, then I think you'll be fine :-) If you're replacing the cabinets anyway you can look for other light non-white colors (like a blonde wood maybe?), but I don't see anything wrong with white.
