Sucked so bad. I had to get two fillings. One on top one on the bottom. I get nervous at the dentist, who doesn't?
They started the injections and I was pretty nervous and tense to begin with. Then I started shaking and going into full on panic mode. After she was done with bottom injections. I started crying. Like full on tears and shakiness. I couldn't help it.
I apologized when the dentist came in and she said it was more than just nerves but a reaction to the epinephrine in the numbing agent. She gave me some nitrous oxide to calm me down which worked . It was awful. Has that ever happened to you?
Now my mouth is sore on the top and I can't open my mouth very wide. The one filling on the bottom doesn't hurt, it's the top one, is that normal?
Ugh I hate the dentist. Last time I was there was for a root canal when I had a concussion. It was taking forever to get me numb and I was freaking out. The assistant told me to rub the area between my thumb and forefinger because it's supposed to redirect your focus and calm you down. I asked for gas but they didn't have any
So sorry you had a bad experience but I'm sure they see it all.

It happened to my mom just a few weeks ago. The dentist had to recline the chair so her feet were above her chest. She was sweating profusely within 10 seconds of getting the injection. He had to let her recover and then send her home. She went back on another day to get the filling, and got a shot without the epinephrene or however you spell it. Definitely have them note it in your record so you don't get that ever again!

I effing hate the dentist. When we moved we had to find a new one. We failed at our first attempt and I knew our second attempt was a good fit when I flat out told him that I absolutely hated his profession and he was cool with it.
We went 7 years without dental work. Holy expensive! Over $5K out of pocket last year for the both of us and we have some kick ass dental insurance. I thought I'd be safe going in for our last check out. Nope. DH has 3 cavities, I have 1 cavity, a re-do on an old cavity and a root canal. Fuck me running.
In defense of our not-so-dirty mouths most of the work last year was fixing old metal fillings, not new problems. We brush our teeth multiple times a day, floss (but clearly not often enough) and don't consume sugar like we used to...but apparently our old habits are kicking our asses now.
Stupid dentist. Stupid teeth. Stupid...
PS - joenali, sorry it sucked so bad. I don't mind the shots, its the noise in my mouth and anticipation of pain. If they so much as remove a temporary crown I make them numb me up or I literally cry from just the anticipation of pain...even if there never is pain. I'm such a wimp.
Ok, so my jaw still hurts. I don't know if it's from keeping my mouth open for a long time or the shots? Boooo, I'm a whimp!! I already took Tylenol, but it hurts to open my mouth.
Because you all care: my jaw still hurts. I might have a tumor . Thanks dr. Google! If this pain does not relieve itself soon, I'm calling my dentist. This sucks.

My jaw is always sore for a few days following a lot of work in my mouth. But my jaw is really wimpy and hates being open for 45+ minutes. This may or may not be the primary reason I'm putting off the root canal...
