I have been doing at-home strength training and I think I keep over-doing it! I am so sore today from lunges with weights that I sort of want to cry, and last week I got so sore that I could feel my muscles shaking when I was just laying in bed. Dumb question, but do you think I am over-doing my strength training, or should I not repeat today's choice of workout (yesterday tough weights with lunges which equaled sore quads followed today by a 45 minute tempo trainer ride.) Opinions? Thoughts? Treatments for soreness? Advice to suck it up buttercup?

Hot bath, lots and lots of stretching, advil, and tons and tons of water.
To answer your question, it sounds like you might be slightly overdoing it. It's ok to be sore, but to be shaking in bed while not moving is a bit much IMO.
Keep at weight lifting, but maybe back off a bit for a week or two and see how your body reacts.
For me, if I'm doing a new "routine", I'm usually very sore the next day, but sore to the point that it hurts a bit to walk, but I'm still functioning. If it's a routing I've been doing a while, I want to be able to tell I've worked out the next day (as in, I can feel it when I stretch), but my muscles don't scream at me when I stand up/sit down/walk/etc.
Stretching, foam rolling, and working out. When I get really sore, not working out doesn't help, but working out as usual (but maybe a little lighter) helps me recover faster.
Stretching and epsom salt baths. They work wonders for me. Also, I'd take it easy for a bit so your body can recover. Alternate days of strength training with cardio. That might help.
