Now that I'm getting deeper into my HM training, and summer is giving me the middle finger, I'd like to start carrying water with me on my runs. What do you use? Do you prefer handheld or a belt? I have been running an out and back that goes past 2 baseball diamonds with bubblers, but the trail isn't long enough to do an out and back for the remainder of my long runs, and just can't make myself do a loop. This is all so new to me, I never used to run more than 3 miles at a time!
Also, as a side note/AW: Saturday was my longest run to date, 7 miles, and I ran it without stopping! DH ran the first 2 with me, then turned and headed for home (not before telling me "you got this!", I was very nervous...) and I continued on with my out and back. At 3.5, I turned around, decided I would stop for water when I got to the bubbler that was 2 miles from home. But when I got there, I decided to just push through it. My pace ended up being 11:34, which is right where I want to be for my race.
I promptly celebrated with a Glass Nickel Pizza Co pizza run with DH...
I have both and prefer my belt. It's a Nathan Speed 2 and holds just enough for me. I will use the opportunity to refill the bottles if I stop somewhere that has water, or plan a stop if my run is extra long, but it works great.

I prefer a belt- I have the Fuel Belt with 2 smallish bottles that I fill if I pass a fountain. I just can never get comfortable with a handheld and I feel like it's awkward. I find that I can make the belt fit comfortably and I don't even notice it. FYI-I've seen Fuel Belts at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for cheap, in case you want to try it out.

I have this one (http://www.nathansports.com/hydration/handhelds/quickshot-plus) in pink. I really like the big pocket for my gels, phone, keys, etc - at my HM last weekend, I had: two gels, half pack of shot blocks, CC, Keys and travel size cottonelle wipes stuffed in there!
I have a belt that I tried a couple times and I didn't like the bounce - it could be b/c it's a cheap one. I may try again with a nicer one, but I find that the handheld is working fine for me. I just take small sips and it lasts through my long runs.
I have a Nathan handheld. If I were training for a half, and doing multiple 10+ mile runs, I would consider a belt so I could carry more water with me.

I have a 4 bottle Fuel Belt for long runs when I need to carry both water and electrolytes. I also just bought the hand held bottle that Texassmith posted for shorter runs but I haven't used it yet.
I tried a belt when I started running, it just did not work for me. I do still wear a small amphipod airflow lite for my phone and gu, but I cannot handle the bottles flopping around and the weight just bugged me.
For water, I use a handheld amphipod - 12oz. It is just the right size for a 3-5 mile run, if I go longer I fill it at a water fountain. I like to try to switch hands every mile or so.
