We're going to go door to door tonight with flyers.
Ex has put 100 flyers up in the last week and every one of them has been torn down. I'm almost positive that someone has her.
years ago my dog went under the fence, leaving her collar behind. I was frantic, putting up flyers everywhere I could think of. 4 weeks later, my daughter comes home from school and says. " I swear I just saw rocki at this house, she was on a leash and these kids were playing with her"
we walked to the house (around the corner, two blocks down) knocked on their door and held up the dogs photo. "have you seen this dog?" the woman says "daughter, it looks like rover's (yes they named my dog) owner is FINALLY here" my dog is walked to the door with a bandanna on, freshly bathed. while I appreciate them taking such good care of her, it was clear that they had no intention of returning her. I had posted a flyer on a post in their front yard!

i feel like i shouldn't be so naive at this point in my life, but i'm shocked that people do this. they deserve to have their toenails ripped out.

good luck finding hurley, berbles.
I know really? that was like 15 years ago and it still makes my blood boil when I think about it.
Yes. I put REWARD on the new flyers. It may not be much, but that's not really the point, is it?
Yeah, I am appalled that someone is blatantly removing the posters that we put up. I need to find a video camera that we can leave on all night, focused on one of the posters.
Who finds a dog with a harness on, clearly someone else's pet, and thinks, "Sweet! Free dog!"??
ETA: Oh, and Ex talked to some police officers who were nearby the other day and he asked whether it could be the police/code enforcement tearing the posters down. They weren't positive, but were pretty sure it wouldn't be anyone from the police. They advised him to just keep putting the posters up, even after they get ripped down.

Douchebags like my SIL. She found two small white dogs out roaming her neighborhood, determined that because they looked dirty that they had been mistreated and then kept them. She eventually took one to the pound (don't get me fucking started) and kept the other one until about a year ago (again, don't get me started) when she took that one to the pound as well after "owning" her for 7 years. I hate people and I hope that you find your pup very soon.

Did you make sure it isn't a code enforcer removing the flyers? If you keep putting up signs and they keep taking them down, you can be fined.
I hope you find Hurley.
Haha, see my ETA in my previous post. I was writing that when you posted.
ETA: Also, a poster was ripped off of Ex's fence. I'm fairly positive that's NOT code enforcement.
people suck. As bad as this sounds, I'm glad she might be with another family. It's better than being alone. If you do find this family, beat the crap out of them for being assholes.
visit vets in the area & give a flyer to the front desk. that way they're aware of hurley.
if someone is keeping her (him?), they may eventually take hurley in for a checkup & she'll be recognized. (i can't remember if this is the pup w/ the chip that isn't registered)
I think you should offer a specific reward amount. I know it is horrifying to pay someone who stole the dog to get her back, but it is the best way. Reward might not convince people, but a specific offer of $500 or $1K might. I would demand your FIL pay it, but I know many of us also volunteered to contribute if you don't want to offer a huge amount out of your own pocket. Tough I get the principle is disgusting.
Another option is pet stores in the area, the one we shop at will send out lost pet announcements through their Facebook and twitter and then other people share/retweet. I've heard of quite a few pets getting home that way.
She is chipped and we filed a lost notice with the chip company. I also signed up on lostmydoggie.com, which faxed her lost poster to the 10 closest vets, as well as emailed 25 businesses close by.
The other dog is doing fine, though ex said he seems lonely.
