I need to do a zero house-spending August challenge

Childcare costs are friggen killing us. I think we need to have a zero spending month for August and since house-spending is our biggest discretionary line item, we need to chill on the house stuff. (not like we are actually buying a ton, but weekly trips to the HD or various nurseries or whatever add up)

Will you keep me accountable? If I post anything on here - it better be from stuff I already have.

You know..I will totally join you. There's not a thing I really need right now from décor to dishsoap. I've been on a bit of an internet break this week actually because I can't stop looking at, then wanting, then buying 1/4 of all the pretty things.

We do need to get Rubes a big girl bed, move the crib to the new baby room, move the playroom sofa to E. student's room and get a sectional that pulls out. However, this isn't likely to happen until this fall, but if it does happen sooner, it's already in the savings and budgeted, so that doesn't count right?

I spent a ridiculous amount of $$$ (well, technically R did, since my debit card is kaput and I don't have a new one yet) this weekend on our little mini vacation. I'll join you, for SURE.

Actually, a make do with what you have challenge sounds much better than a don't spend challenge. When you frame it that way, I've got something to actually do rather than just thinking about projects I want to do... Im going to get creative!

I feel like I really need to think about things I can do with what I have around too.  And even worse I have the supplies for a couple projects and need to actually just execute so that could be good motivation.

I swear, summer is the worst. Half my paycheck goes to childcare. I cannot wait until back to school, I'll pay a ton less and get my paychecks back!
