You can still get a period but it's more rare. In general, regular periods mean regular ovulation. I used to get a period like once or twice a year and I don't think I ovulated before those times. The best indicator of ovulation is regular periods.
I don't know but I am under the opinion you very well could have been ovulating. My cycles were every 60 days or so, having had only 3 PP periods I thought I wasn't ovulating. My P tracker said if I was ovulating it would be around around CD 30 but I had sex from CD14-20 JIC and got pregnant. More or less it tells me that while my period has been nowhere near regular that I was likely ovulating on a regular schedule at least for a little while. I think you can have a period and not ovulate too from what I have read so I would look for ovulation signs and go from there! Here's to BFP vibes soon
I think if you ovulate, you will have a period unless you get pg. But if you get a period, it doesn't necessarily mean you have ovulated.
This, having a period even on a regular basis doesn't mean ovulation. The only guarentee of ovulation is a day 21 blood test. OPKs and temp only indicate a surge not ovulation.

Oh wow I did not know this! I thought temping confirmed O. Thanks for this. Is that CD21? What if you O later than CD21? Sorry so many questions.

A typical ovulatory pattern is cd 14 but that is the average norm but not for everyone. I typically O on cd 21 and that was with IF drugs. I have gone as long as cd28 before Oing on Clomid which is not uncommon. Since having a baby I am more regular, I was taking progesterone in order to bring on AF before which has not been needed since I stopped bfing. If you have any questions, maybe talking to your OB about a hormone panel to try to pinpoint when to look for O.
If you ovulate you will either get pregnant or get your AF. Ovulation sets off the Lutinizing hormone (LH) which triggers your progesterone to either build a lining for the embryo or shed to start over.

Yes CD 21. If you have long cycles they will still test on CD 21 but then probably send you for a redraw. I have had lots of CD 21 tests in the past.
Well that was my understanding, but I haven't discussed it with a professional, so maybe not!
It's pretty sad how clueless we are about our own bodies. lol
Well I think I get it now, actually. I guess I was actually dumb enough to believe I could ovulate regularly and get no period but I guess realistically is that you can start ovulating and getting your period pretty much whenever thus why it's said "you know you can still get pregnant". I still was not getting a period regularly but perhaps it was going to straighten itself out that month and that's why I got pregnant like I would on a normal 30 day cycle? I don't know. I had just been convinced I was ovulating every 30 or so days while still having 60 days between each period but now I feel DUMB!

I don't think any of us are clueless about them, you just cant gauge what is going on inside unless you have blood confirmation. Unfortunately, even with normal cycles it doesn't always mean you ovulate and even if you did ovulate I think it is a 3% chance of conception each month and that depends on your age as well.

Yea, I don't think you were ovulating on a 60 day cycle and if you were it was prob 2 weeks before the 60 days were up. Your body makes the egg to get fertilized and it builds up your lining and then if you don't get pregnant you have your period.

Right, I get that. I had a period Jan 4(ish), March 4(ish), May 4 (I deleted P tracker so I dont remember specific dates of the first two). Do you think that my body was about to go to a more regular cycle? It was very consistent with every 60 days, well, for the 3 times I had my period atleast, lol. I guess it had to have been going to a more regular cycle because my u/s's match up exactly to my LMP.

Yea, it sounds like if you didn't get pregnant you would have had a normal length cycle.

Okay. I know I shouldn't obess about it but I swear my OB has said to me like half a dozen times "well this is what happens when people think they can't get pregnant when breastfeeding..." ^o) Like I ever even said I didn't want to be? He's such a prick about everything and confuses the hell out of me - such as telling me I couldn't breastfeed because of ICP. Anyways, thanks for answering my very dumb annoying questions. I need a new OB, if only they'd call me back to schedule.....

Well, I was including myself in that, so try not to get too offended. I'll think I have a handle on what goes on in there, and then someone will say something and I'm like "hmm, sounds plausible."
I wasn't offended at all Just trying to help out if I can, if I came off as being offended or bitchy, it wasn't meant to. I went thru 2 yrs of IF treatment and tried to get pg for 6 yrs. I know ttc isn't fun for some of us. Sex became a big chore in this house. I am ttc#2 also but I am thinking I may need to be monitored again. It sucks but I do want another baby and it is worth it.

No doctor I know does a redraw, they typically call it a bust cycle. It really should be called the 7dpo test NOT CD 21. When I did O, it would be on day 19, so I went on CD 26 for my P4. If I went at CD 21, it would show that I didn't O and the treatment wasn't working and possibly starting provera prematurely.
I'm shocked your RE is keeping to strict CD 21, I found that more with OBs.
If your order states the CD, remember neither the lab nor your doctor truly know the day you are on for your draw.

When I went for draws they would start me on cd 3 while I had AF along with a transvaginal ultrasound. I don't know what she tested for during certain points of the cycle just that my progesterone, LH, estrogen and E2 were tested each time but I have no clue where they were supposed to be during different points.
