Seriously . . . what a great race! (And I really never thought I'd say that about running 9.3 miles.) Amazing crowd support throughout every single step of the race, great post-race party, great people running together (I hung out with/spoke to people from all over the country - so very cool!) . . . I can't wait to run it again next year!
My official time was 1:45:59. Time on my watch: 1:41:34. I did stop to use the porta potties twice and walked nearly every water station. I wasn't concerned about time - I just wanted to finish and not die, ha. (It was super hot and humid.)
Is this the race? I read this article yesterday and thought it was such a great idea.
Yep! I had no idea they were doing that - very cool!
The zoo brought animals from the petting zoo down to the course (goats, a turtle, rabbits, a huge snake, etc.) - people were stopping to take pictures with them. As I was running, I was like, "Aw, those people brought their pet bunny out to cheer us on!" then I saw the goats and snake and was like, "Uhm . . . people in Upstate NY have some weird pets." It wasn't until I got right up to them that I noticed the group of people wearing shirts that said "Utica Zoo" and I thought it was so neat that they brought the animals down!
