We are supposed to go visit SIL in Quebec City this weekend. They live in the old city and I think because of all the urbanism restrictions, it is complicated for them to have a/c so they don't.
She emailed me to say that it is 33C in her house right now (91F). Sooooooo, instead of sleeping there 2 nights and then at my parents 1 night on the way back, we will book a hotel and stay one night in QC, then 2 nights at my parents. I jusr called her to tell her and it was a bit awkward. They are worried that we think they don't want us there and we are worried that they think we are snobbing their (otherwise very nice) house.
But I'd rather die. We stayed there last year in a heat wave and it was horrible.
Back in the old days, we didn't even have a/c and we were fine. I guess we turned into wusses, lol.
We were supposed to sleep at my parents house in New England over 4th of July. Their house has no ac and was so so hot. Our DS was sweating immediately, so we packed up and moved to my brother's house. I felt bad, but I knew there was no way we could sleep there.
Yeah, that is our thinking. We don't HAVE to. We don't even have to go visit, we are going for fun. The kids just can't sleep in that much heat, and therefore we aren't allowed to sleep, lol.
We have central a/c, but the master bedroom is two floors up and on the opposite side of the house from the hvac unit, so our bedroom gets super warm. To combat this, we have a window a/c unit and sleep with two fans and the ceiling fan on.

No way would I attempt to sleep there b/c goodness knows I wouldn't be able to at which point I'd become a sleep deprived angry mess which is way worse then politely opting to stay at a hotel.
Not with kids. Stay in a hotel. Or outside. You'd be fine outside. It was pretty cool at night, but I'm sure their house is retaining the heat of the day.
When we had a days-long power outage we had to sleep in only the upper 70s with no AC and that was terrible. Of course we had no fan or anything, and were worried anyways with no power. But anyways after the first night we bailed and went to a hotel. I don't think my H would even consider staying in a house that hot if there was an air conditioned option available.
