What do you do when you return from the grocery store/market with your fruit?
Do you clean it right away? Slice it up immediately? Leave it in a bag until you're ready to eat it and then wash it? Do you use one of those fruit washes or just use water?
I like having lots of fresh fruits and veggies in the house but I feel like it is soooo much work once I get home to clean it and have it ready to go for the baby. That sounds pretty lame but maybe I am just lazy?

Bananas go on the counter. The rest of our fruit is usually peaches, strawberries, and blueberris. Peackes just go in a bag in the fridge. The berries I dump in the sink with cold water and a few tablespoons on white vinegar for about 15 minutes. It kills all the mold spores and makes them last longer (not that the kid lets them last very long) Then I dry them and put them back in their containers in the fridge.

I wash it as I go. It doesn't take long to wash a plum and cut it up IMO. I use a fruit/veggie wash and I have a vegetable scrubber I use sometimes. We buy all organic produce though so hopefully it isn't covered in much besides dirt!

I throw some in the fridge and the rest in a fruit basket. I wash with water when it's time to eat. Same with veggies. I didn't know there were other options.
Bananas go on the counter. So do some kinds of fruit, if they aren't quite ripe yet, like peaches. Almost everything goes in the fridge. I wash with water and cut it up as it's needed. A lot of stuff will go bad too quickly if it's pre-cut. Some stuff, I will cut up at night after the kids are in bed. The big things like watermelon or cantaloupe.

Except for banana, I put everything in the fridge and wash/cut up as I go. I was at Costco last night. My laziness took over and I picked up one of those fresh fruit salad bowls that has pre-cut melons, pineapple, mangoes, etc.

Berries and grapes I rinse the whole package. Melons I leave on the counter until I get around to cutting it. Other fruits (except for bananas) go in the fridge in their bags and I wash as I go. Usually I just rinse in water.
If I buy a lot of strawberries, I cut the tops off and store them flat in Ziploc bags to keep them fresh longer. It can extend their shelf life by quite a bit.
I now put bananas in the fridge. I just learned they last longer if you do - and its so true! We used to buy bananas and they went bad within a week or so. Now they last way longer than a week. Although the peels brown really fast, the insides stay nice and firm longer. Just a tip! lol
I wash most of the fruit as I go. Bananas, kiwi, pears, plums, and peaches go on the counter. I keep berries, mango, and melon in the fridge. If I buy mango or melons I usually wash and cut that when I get home from shopping.
