I went from software sales to ad sales. Basically, I looked nice when I wore jeans and a nice top at my last job bc most were in shorts or sweatshirts. WAY LAID BACK! I think I am getting a job in ad sales. I have the final interview an they told me they have already created the offer letter.
I need to amp my business wardrobe and fast. I think Limited is probably the best bang for my buck at this point. I also found some Ann Taylor and Banana stuff deeply discounted as there are tons of sales going on. Going forward, how do you guys get the good coupons at Limited and other places? I had a friend give me a Limited coupon awhile back and I got a $200 suit for under $100 b/c they are stackable with the store promos. I signed up online. Anything else? I was thinking about the cc for the only reason that I could get free alterations and I am 5'2" so that would be handy. Anyone have it? Coupons worth it? TIA
Be careful of quality - The Limited and NY & Co are all synthetic and you can tell. AT and BR use more (but not all) natural fibers like silk and wool. It depends on your career if this matters.
I've gotten suits at AT for $100 when they do their "40% off everything including sale" specials. The trick is to catch them right when they do fresh markdowns so there's a large selection. The AT sale is never as good online as it is in stores - the stores are generally about 30% cheaper on sale merchandise in my experience.
If you have an outlet mall near you, check there - some of my very favorite clothes are from the AT and BR outlets.
I'd sign up for the email list for ann taylor, loft and banana. that way they'll send you coupons and you'll know about sales right away. also hit up any outlets near you. and definitely if you buy online go through Ebates so you get cash back. I love that site.
this helps. I can tell that about limited. I typically buy tops and things there and some of their fashion suits aren't bad. it's hit or miss but I have had some luck. Thanks for the responses. I appreciate it.
do you find that loft is not as good quality as AT? Should i be aiming for AT over Loft?
Also, anyplace else I should look in time for clothes? I have an eclectic taste but am well put together. I have never shopped AT b/c it's all so classic but now am looking at ways bloggers are personalizing work attire. Are there other places I should look? Thanks, again!
I'm in ad sales, but my current office is much more laid back clothing wise than my previous office.
Other than the above mentioned stores I get some work clothes from: Kohls- Love their LC stuff for cute cardis and shirts, Vera and Elle lines have some cute tops Marshall's/TJ Maxx- they have Limited work pants for $17 and a lot of cute blouses and dresses Maurice's- half of the store is work appropriate clothes and you can find decent stuff Express- a lot of basic nice work pants and tops
I go on all the websites and sign up for their e mail list, they will e mail you sales and coupon codes almost daily. I have a Kohls and Express credit card so I get tons of coupons in the mail which is great.
I've been on their websites and signed up for their emails as well. I am constantly getting sale/promo code emails. Also, if you sign up for the store card, I find myself getting even more coupons.

Do you have an iphone? (It may be on droid as well) but it's an app called couponsherpa. It has coupon codes for AT and the Limited right now (the stores change somewhat). You can also use them in store (it brings up a barcode for the cashier to scan)
The only reason I don't wear things from Loft to work is because my work is dressier than that. Lots of my casual clothes come from Loft, though. Some people have had problems with Loft quality (hems falling, beading coming off); I've only had 2 problems in all the years I've been shopping there because my machine has a super delicate handwash cycle that I use for anything suspect.
I do second TJ Maxx if pants from the Limited fit you (they don't me) - they're always in there. I've gotten a couple Calvin Klein sheath dresses at TJ Maxx for $60.

For BR - get the credit card and use it (only if you can pay it off each month). I get TONS of in store coupons in the mail. BR outlet is my favorite outlet ever too - I get lots of work dresses for under $30 and they're well made, IMO.
As for Limited, when you go there and shop they take your email address each time so that will help - more frequent shoppers get more coupons. They also do promotions a lot on suits (like buy one piece get one 50%...or free...can't remember). They do those "bucks" too where if you buy you get "money" to use during certain weeks.
AT/Loft - I like AT better, but it's SO much more expensive. You get way better deals at Loft so I get tons more from there.
As for website coupons just go to See Chloe Shop blog and she'll have codes. Of course sign up for emails too and to Ebates (yes, ebates it legit and it's free money back).

If you sign up for emails, you'll get tons.
I also have a BR credit card and that gets me coupons for BR, Gap, ON and sometimes Piperlime & Athleta. (I realize most of those won't help you with work clothes.) Plus you get reward coupons ($10) for spending certain amounts (I don't remember how much, though.) They also send a $15 birthday, coupon.
I have a Loft card, too, and they send coupons for AT/ATL. They also have a rewards system, but I've never gotten one, so I can't figure out how it works.
Obviously, you want to pay off any balances in full each month and probably don't want a ton of store CCs.
Express also have a frequent shopper card now. It's not a CC, but more like a store loyalty card. You accumulate points that gets you rewards and they send coupons.

I forgot that there are levels with the BR card. If you are buying to buy a lot, your spending might qualify for the Luxe card. That entitles you to free shipping (no minimum) and free alterations on full price items. You also get 10% online on Tuesdays. (I think the regular card has this, too.)
CouponCabin is another good place for coupon codes. I will also just google the store name with "coupon codes" and will sometimes get other codes that way for free shipping or a small % off.

I am a huge fan of the Limited. Their cassidy fit in short length are my fav. Right now they are having a 70% + 25% off sale . I have the Limited CC and get 2 coupons in the mail about once a quarter - they are the $15/50 $30/100, etc. I also use retailmenot dot com. They also send coupons via email but i unsubscribed cause I was getting an email everyday. Happy shopping!
The Chloe Conspiracy posts about sales each day so I'd recommend following that in addition to signing up for emails from the various brands.
I agree that Limited suits can look cheap, but they do have some nice ones. I was asked by someone who works at Hugo Boss if my Limited suit was Hugo Boss. And I only paid like $100 for it!
