My Physical Therapist thinks I have bursitis in my left knee. It's been bothering me since I overdid it on the leg extension at the gym about 2 weeks ago and nothing seems to help. Any suggestions on what I can do to help it other than RICE?
Thankfully, it has not impacted my range of motion, and otherwise my recovery from knee surgery is going well... but dang it, this is a pain! I go back to the orthopedic surgeon on Monday and plan to address it with him but any tips you ladies have would be greatly appreciated! I have got to get this under control before we leave for our around the world trip.
Wait! Around the world trip! More details please! How did I miss this?
Yes! I don't think I shared much about it on this board (sorry!), but I'm super excited. We're flying through Zurich, Sw to Bangkok, Thailand and then Singapore, Malaysia, and will spend a week in Bali, and then flying back through Japan. We'll mostly be in Southeast Asia but our trip will technically be traveling around the world by flying East via multiple planes so I'm calling it our around the world trip bc I've never flown literally around the world like that.
brit - we almost booked a few nights in Dubai, but decided we'll go another time when it's not Ramadan. When is your big move? Oh, and as a side note, DH really wants to go to India so I may reach out to you in the future for tips.
That sounds like an amazing trip! Enjoy! I don't have any tips. I had hip bursitis (from carrying my son, not running believe it or not), and just had to switch hips and rest it a little. I hope yours heals quickly too.

The only thing I would add is to make sure that you let it FULLY heal. I did not, and ended up dealing with it for several months longer than I would have if I had given it the proper time to heal.

This is what I'm worried about! At this point I'm crossing my fingers that I get better news at my drs appt Monday morning. I honestly thought my knee would be in much better shape by now and I feel horrible I won't be able to do some of the hiking DH wants to do on our trip. Thanks for the suggestions.
Can your PT do some ultrasound or iontophoresis to help speed recovery along? Not uncommon post op when you are trying to rebuild those muscles to get a touch of bursitis along the way. Also ice a lot!
