We will be using it mainly for going back and forth to school drop off, going to parks/playgroups/classes after school, etc. So city riding, with occassional bike path, etc riding on weekends and vacations.
Trailer pros:
- Safer than a seat - Protects him from the elements - I can put my bag/groceries/playground stuff/various crap in there with him
Seat pros:
- Lighter - Easier to ride/maneuver in the city (I do worry that even though a trailer is technically safer, the fact that I am pulling something behind me through city traffic is somehow more dangerous, like if I misjudge at all). - Ability to transport for weekend/vacation riding - I think E will like it more
What do you think and what did you/are you picking?
We have both. He's been using the seat, but now we are switching him to the trailer. He's getting too big and heavy for the seat (he rides on my bike).

We just purchased a trailer. I just bought myself a new bike. I haven't ridden in about 15 years? I don't feel confident enough to have a seat on my bike. Plus, then we can put both girls in the trailer at the same time. We hooked it up to DH's bike. They went for a ride this morning and loved it!
Do you guys have a seat rec? Front or back? I'd love one because most of our activities are further than quick walking distance but not far enough to justify a taxi or subway (like 1.5-2 miles), so I think biking would be perfect.
I also wanted to add that I find as he's getting bigger, he's making my bike a little bit more unsteady. So, I feel like the bike trailer will end up being safer at this point.
I'd also like to point out that he spends a majority of the bike ride trying to put his hand down my pants and lifting up my shirt. So there's that to factor in too.

H has a back one. He got it at the bike store on 96th and Broadway, it was the only one they sold.

The two bike stores by us won''t even sell the front ones because they said they are unsafe. Other than that...i have no idea.
We have the trailer and she loves it.i was afraid of crashing the bike with the seat (I'm not the most experienced biker). But I do still worry about misjudging and running the trailer into something or it being hit by a car too and we aren't even in a major city.
We have a seat bc I wasn't sure how much we would use it I got it at the big consignment sale for $25 and we've used it twice so I'm glad I didn't spend more

We just got a front seat because we were told the rear ones were unsafe. We love it. And it fits kids up to 43". We tried it on vacation through a rental and bought one as soon as we got back home. Love it.
