So today I had my first ultrasound appointment and I was supposed to be around 11 weeks or so. The baby only measured 8 weeks. Got to hear the heartbeat and it was strong so that was good, but my doctor was still concerned about the 3 week difference. I did tell her that my LMP was just a guess (I never keep track.) But I was thinking maybe a week off max, not 3. We were going to tell our families, but now I'm going to wait until my next ultrasound appointment, which is 4 weeks from now. Needless to say I'm not very hopeful that we will see a healthy growing baby next time.
Don't lose hope yet! The dating is really an estimate and since you don't know when you conceived its an even bigger margin for error. Stay positive, you heard a healthy heart beat!

A strong heartbeat is great! If you weren't keeping track of your periods, especially if they haven't been regular, then it could be really easy to be 3 weeks off on an EDD. Best of luck!
My EDD was two week different then I thought it should be according to an early ultrasound. And he is a wonderful 5 year old now. Don't give up. Fertilization and the ultrasound measurements are both not a perfect science.
A heartbeat is GREAT news! A similar thing happened to us with our first appt with Sophia, except there was no ultrasound and he couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler at 11 weeks. He sent us in for an urgent ultrasound (God bless him) and we heard the heartbeat and saw our teeny bug. She was totally fine!
It sucks because even when they tell you everything is perfect you still worry. However, having seen the heartbeat is a great sign. Try to keep thinking positive.
I'm so sorry, but I am sending positive thoughts your way. You may have had an odd ovulation and don't realize it to account for the difference, but i think you being cautious telling people is smart.
I just looked, you announced your BFP about a month after me. So I think it sounds like the baby is growing right on schedule. Don't get discouraged yet!
I'm sorry your ultrasound didn't go as planned. A strong heart beat is a really great sign. Please don't lose hope, you would be surprised at how people can misjudge their due date based on LMP, especially if you weren't paying attention. Sending positive thoughts for a happy and healthy 9 months for you and baby. Hugs.
I had nearly a two week difference between what I thought was my LMP and what my little guy measured. He is now running around the living room creating havoc wherever he can. Try to stay positive, if you weren't tracking its not unreasonable to be off quite a bit. A strong heartbeat is good!
