I'm just cruising along, enjoying my 5:30am run, when BAM! I trip on an uneven sidewalk. I stumbled and was able to force myself to land mostly on the grass. But, I still have scraped up elbows, a gash on my hip (never felt that until I took a shower - ow!!), and a bruised knee which has been getting bigger all day. Luckily, no major injuries!
This marks the second such fall I've had. The last one was almost seven years ago. And, of course, I had seen no one out and about while on my run, but when I was falling was precisely when a woman decided to walk out her front door. Figures.
I did that not too long ago, mostly skinned knees and hands. I was super embarrassed but kept going and ended up having a great run. I noticed people were watching me while I was running, and about 2 miles later this homeless man yells, "hey lady, you're bleeding!" I thought my knee was just a little red. It wasn't until I got home that I saw that my leg was covered in blood. Whoops! That first shower hurt and the following day I was sore, but much better after that.
Now you have proof that you're hard core! Feel better soon
The worst running fall I ever knew someone take was a friend of mine. She'd just had her second baby about 6 weeks before. It was her 2nd run back. She tripped on a tree root about 100 yards from her house, fell, and broke her collarbone. She had to have surgery and could not hold her baby or toddler for about 8 weeks. (Thank heavens for her sister and mom living nearby!) She still laughs about what a dumb fall it to this day.
I hope you heal quickly and I'm glad you don't have any major injuries!
I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk when I was running last December and somehow managed to crack a rib, break my nose, get a concussion (passed out twice with short term memory loss), and scrape/bruise every bony protrusion on my body.

Bummer! Something similar happened to me once. My hands and knees were all scraped up and bloody when I got home. I since started running with a flashlight in the early AM.
