I always wonder what I will look like as an old woman. Right now my bets are on sort of like the woman who plays Vogel in Dexter. Except I hope I get white hair.

I want to look like Katherine Hepburn - pretty, but kind of a mess with a big rat's nest of a bun on the top of my head

I really love this. This is probably how the elderly visualize themselves still, and it's helpful for us to remember that they weren't always in need of assistance.

I always think of myself the same way. As pixie-haired ladies, we should probably start growing it out now, yes?

That is really touching. I often think it may be very sad for older people to look at photos of themselves as young people and see how much they've changed, seemingly in the blink of an eye.
I don't know why it makes me sad. Probably a combination of fear about how that is closer to being my parents than I want to admit, and the fact that it will be me and my husband one day that will come in a blink.
That is so neat. I love to look at old pictures of my grandma and grandpa. I never got to meet him so I picture him as a 27 year old (age when he died) and it is so neat to see my grandma that age and how in love they looked.
My grandmother had a wonderful care facility which encouraged family visits and personalizing rooms. I loved to pass the doors where the rooms had old portraits of the residents hanging on the wall. The old fashioned clothing and hats, even the posture and smiles always touched me. This reminds me of that.
I think this is beautiful and a reminder to remember your parents and grandparents while they are alive. Listen to their stories and appreciate them while you still can. See them as the beautiful people they were and are.
I love this! My mom just recently unearthed the most awesome picture of my grandma, taken probably in the 1920s, riding a horse holding a shotgun. So unlike the "old lady" I've always seen her as.

I use to love seeing the old pics and reading the bios on the doors at my MIL's Alzheimer facility. It was haunting though to see doctors, lawyers, librarians, teachers etc. in their current state after reading about their lives (where they were born, their career, family etc.). So sad.
ETA Love the pics. Even now in my mind I am younger than I am (38) until I look in the mirror and realize I am not 25 anymore.
