I've always ran in the afternoon or early evening, but just went on a nighttime run about 15 minutes ago. It was going to be my day off, but I really just wanted to get at least a mile in. I love running at night! It was a little cooler, but still in the high 80s, but it just seemed easier to keep going.
So I'm curious: When is your favorite time to run and why?
Between 4 pm and 6 pm. It depends on the time of year and the weather. I am not a morning person and would have never have stuck to it if I had tried to get up and run at 4 am
I've been enjoying my morning runs (7am by myself, or around 9am with DS) lately. It's such a great feeling to have that accomplishment done first thing!
I mixed. I do enjoy my long runs early in the morning, just to have them done. I've been doing track runs in the morning recently, and that seems to be going pretty well. I do enjoy running in the evenings because I feel like I'm stronger or have more energy from eating and drinking throughout the day. It's also a nice way to clear my head after work. When i run in the early morning, I still take the dogs for a walk in the evening, which is a nice way to start and end the day.
I love running in the evenings between 6-8pm. It's usually a little cooler by then and I also sleep great because I'm so tired by the time I go to bed.
I like to run in the morning after waking up, having breakfast and coffee, and...uh....using the restroom. Normally for me that is around 8:30 or 9.
This! I have been waking early to run (4:45ish) and my whole body feels stiff. On days that I can wait until I wake up a little (and yes, clear out the system ), I feel much better. 8-9ish is perfect for me.
This summer I've really enjoyed running later in the evening, as the sun is going down around 8pm/8:30pm. I wish I could run early in the morning during the week, but with my grad class schedule, most days it just isn't feasible. On the weekends, I like to be running by 7am.
I absolutely prefer mornings because of the peacefulness. Really its the only peaceful time of my day. But I had been getting into afternoon runs because I'm getting a runner's tan and kind of loving it. I dislike running evening/night. By then I'm just so worn out emotionally/physically that even running seems hard.
4:30am. It's dark and quiet and cool, and the sun comes up during my run. I'm bummed today because I slept in, and now I'm going to have to go in the afternoon/evening heat.
I get up at 4:30 am before work and run. It just works out with our schedules that way. Until I get a jogging stroller, I can't really go when I am home with our DD.

I like to start before the sun comes up. It's cooler and I feel like I have more energy at that point, plus there's something really cool about watching the rest of the world start to wake up as the sun rises.

5am. I sometimes don't get out the door until 5:30 and by then the sun is coming up. I much prefer running without sun in the summer, and I live in the northeast! I did begin this way because it is the only time to fit it in, but given the choice, I'd still stick with 5am.
Maybe I should answer my own question. I would love to run in the early morning, but I commute an hour during the school year to my teaching job, which puts me waking up at 5:15am and out the door at 6:30am. I think I'd be a zombie teacher if I woke up at 4:30 to run. So I usually get to see the sun rise from my car... ugh... not as fun as it probably is on a run.
Right now, I'm really liking running around 7-7:30pm. It's cooler, less crowded on the sidewalks, and it's nice to feel active right before bed.
