Hi there, I was lurking over on TB's Boston board and came across this link, so thought I'd join and say hello! We moved to Austin, TX from Boston 3 years ago, and now I think we are moving back once baby #2 is born in December (we miss family, and it's too damn hot here! And we hate scorpions. But I digress). We have a 16 month old boy who is so much fun, but I'm about to die keeping up with him while preg. I think once we move back we'll be in the burbs (we lived in the North End for a few years, then most recently Newton then Watertown). My hubs would be working in Maynard or Boxborough, so we want something near there. Anyone know anything about raising kids in Lancaster? Sorry for the novel!
Hello and welcome. I live in the area. I actually did live in Maynard for a year and half.
Maynard itself is small and a little removed for my taste. The school system isn't the best but certainly not bad. But it has a nice downtown to walk around.
All the towns surrounding Maynard are really nice and the school systems are great. They are expensive though (Acton, Boxborough, Concord, Stow, Sudbury).
Some great towns that are more affordable just north-east of those towns are: Chelmsford, Littleton, and Westford.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about Lancaster, or any other towns right around there (north-west of 495/Rt.2).

Welcome to the board!
I don't know anything about the areas you're looking at... But if you end up looking in the southeastern part of the state, let me know and I'll be super helpful! Haha
Lancaster is a nice town. Its pretty small but is right on rt2 and close to 495. It has a good school system too. My family lived there for quite a while (although its been a while). I live about 20 minutes west of Lancaster now.

Thanks again! Moving back after being in Austin for 3 years has us spoiled re. house prices! It's a wonder anyone can afford to live up there. . But there is no place like the northeast. So homesick!
