FIL was in town last week and one night we all went to dinner and his dog completed the destruction of our honeycomb blinds behind our couch in the family room (our dog had ripped them a bit when he first joined our family 5 years ago, so I'm not really that upset about it). We now need to replace them.
The window is wider than tall and a custom size. It is behind the couch, and creates glare on the TV. We haven't typically opened the blinds much in the past, but do enjoy getting some filtered light in there in the mornings. We have curtains that we pull across it if watching TV during the day (and now w/o the blinds). The window is one of the ones we eventually want to replace because of its a 1979 single pane metal window and it lets in some cold air during the winter. In the rest of the house we have faux wood blinds, varying in color from white, cream to wood depending on the room, one honeycomb in DS's room and some have curtains on some of those blinds too.
I like the filtered light, the up/down open and the "insulating" properties of the honeycomb blinds, but like the look and the continuity of faux wood, but the width of the window would make pulling them up pretty heavy (though I'm not sure how often we would do a full pull up on that window).
Would you get another honeycomb style blind there or go with faux wood?
