And here's the thing. We had the BEST afternoon. I took them swimming, we had a picnic by the pool, more swimming, and now they are having milk and grahams and watching MM Clubhouse calmly. They're so sweet now. Why are they demonspawn one second and adorbs the next?
I have a LO who will be three in December and she is doing this to me too. It is such a pain to get ready to go places now. She wants to pick out her clothes and changes her mind a zillion times. She has to climb into the car herself (I stand right behind her and help her without her really knowing), she insists on doing pretty much everything. That is all fine and dandy, but it takes her forever and sometimes I am in a rush. lol
DS is teaching me that the 3s are much worse than the 2s.
Yeah, my girls just turned three and are acting just like the OP. It sucks so hard I totally feel for you. Also, about two months ago this is when the behavior really intensified, and I thought we had avoided somehow, the terrible twos but in fact were having terrible threes instead. We have a boy already so I totally and utterly underestimated the "girl whine" Times two

My girls are exactly like this. And the guilt is awful when I get wicked aggravated (for instance, when I'm trying to discipline and they literally are laughing in my face) then they act so frigging cute and lovable others I feel so inadequate. Like a pp said, just the fact that you care about if you are a good mom, makes you a good mom. Creepy stranger hugs from twin girl three year olds to another

Thanks, cinnamoncox :-) Mine do the laughing in the face, too, it's probably the most infuriating thing I've ever experienced.
you are doing your best. they'll hear you eventually. i only have one three year old and i have moments where i'm calling on all deities available for assistance. zeus, allah, buddha, whoever. ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME. because the whining and the sass nearly do me in. i try to remain all stone faced and implacable (because when i do it right, it's what works the best), but i am not batting 1000 on that one.

I am also in the midst of the Horrible 3's. I don't know how SAHMs do it. We're on vacation right now and I'm almost looking forward to going back to work. It's exhausting. I'm cherishing the time with my 22 month old while she's still sweet.
Huge hugs and lots of alcohol to you! You're doing great, they won't win

Protein.
Lmao. Protein and fruit are the two things they'll actually eat! They subsist on tuna, turkey, string cheese, watermelon, cherries, mangoes, peaches... Oh well, worth a try.

Thank GOD they eat the stuff. My kids wouldn't touch any food I prepared for them at age three.
Oh, please don't let me mischaracterize, lol. Those things I listed comprise the majority of what they will eat. Add Hebrew National salami and hot dogs, mac and cheese, and the occasional ravioli or roast chicken, and you've got an accurate picture. They'll eat four or five veggies, too...and crackers and yogurt. They basically have no will to live. If I didn't feed them all day, they'd ask for milk and maaaaaybe remember at about 6 pm that they wanted gummies.
Dude, emsumm, you have TWO three year olds. Basically the craziest, most draining job ever. Unless there were three or more. You're amazing and I'm in awe of your composure, because you DO have it.
Also, I will get you so drunk, you just let me know when.
I love you to bits...call me when you need a break. I'm yours whenever!!

I was a "bad mom" yesterday too, and snapped a LOT at my 2 year old. Today though he was awesome and I found myself being an awesome mom again who even got extra snuggles before bed. I think that's probably normal, after the fact, but at the time I beat myself up and hate how impatient I feel with him (even though he is CLEARLY to blame and can be a mini-jerk, lol), and he's not even a twin!
Tots are rough. Mine just turned three on Sunday and... I'm just thankful my husband's deployment is over because I was about to lose my shit before he came home.
