You may need the freon charged, which would be worth the call. It could also be that the unit is sized too small and there isn't much that can be done. If that is the case, ask for a window unit.
lurker butting in... Since its just the summer, I assume you are renting, right? Do you have a BGE branded thermostat? Did your landlords perhaps sign up for the peak rewards program? The past 3 days have been peak rewards dates, which means BGE turns off your a/c for a good chunk of the day. I would say call whoever is responsible for the a/c unit, but that probably isn't the electric company (BGE). Unless you are on peak rewards. If you were, your unit would have said something about an energy saving say today (mine had that displayed last night)
