I think this may be the first time I am in the same city with her on her birthday, and I want to do something fun for her. It's especially important, because last year, her grandmother died on her birthday (so this is the 1 year anniversary of her death, and I know that there will be a lot of sadness in her home).
So what fun things can I do with her to celebrate with her?
you know her best, but at 14 i wanted people to treat me like a grown up (lol). so, something mature. lunch at a place that is hip and sedate and doesn't have plastic seats, etc.
and NOT to be asked EVEN ONCE about school. god, i find myself doing it too since i don't even know what 14 year olds DO anymore. but "how is school?" is so lame. not that you'd do that. but still.
When I was 14, I hated anything "girly" and preferred to catch a movie, go out to eat, play one on one basketball game.
But if she likes spa/pedicures, shopping, etc go for it! It's fun getting pampered.
She's pretty girly. She gets pedicures with her mom once a month, and I know she enjoys them.
She also loves soccer and One Direction (her and her mom are going to LA to see a One Direction concert the following weekend).
I was thinking that maybe I could take her to get her make up done at the MAC counter (or other makeup counter), but I don't know if that is off limits in her household or not (wearing make up that is).

Check with her mom and do it if she OKs it. my godmother did this for my 14th and it was the best gift!

Check with her mom and take her to buy a new outfit for the concert
