So I finally got a slot in the Army 10 miler after trying for the past 3 years and not getting one either due to $, a sell out or other races. I'm not in the best shape so I was planning on using the summer to get where I need to be to finish without dying. Well, about a month ago, my knee decided to revolt and it went out on me. The ortho said I probably have a small tear in the lateral meniscus or just aggravated it. It's in the same leg I broke 10 years ago and the same that I've had 2 sets of DVTs in (so it's 'special').
So I got a cortisone shot and got 6 weeks of PT. I'm a month in and while I'm getting stronger, I'm not able to train like I should. I've got 92 days before the race and I just don't know if I'm going to be ready. I can sell my bib up until the end of August so I've got about a month. I'm staying with a friend up there so even if I keep it and can't run, I'll only be out the registration fee.
I'm not looking to win. Heck, I've always been more thunder than lightning. I've pounded out 2 fulls and a half marathon in the past along with several 5K's and a 5 miler or two. I don't want to do any damage to my knee but I don't want to give up too soon. I see the actual Physical Therapist next week for a recheck so I'm going to ask her opinion.
I guess there is no real point to this but a vent and a whine. Did I mention that my husband moved out 3 months ago and this race was going to be part of the "new" me and my "new" life? (wilted)
Aw I'm so sorry. I hope you feel better soon. I'm WFH and I'm actually wearing my Army10miler shirt right now. It's such a fun race and there is a huge demand so you should have no trouble selling your bib.

That sucks. I had to sell mine last year when I broke my foot. I'm running it this year though! If you do end up wanting to sell, my husband might want it. But hopefully I will see you there!
