From what I've seen on this board this will be UO, but theyre over used and not necessary for most people. Your best bet is to get any nutrients from food (duh). Now, if you're vegan or something yes get some powder, but if you eat a well balanced diet, no need to spend the money
Unless I take protein powder after a HUGE meal, I get super nauseated which sucks - because I'm vegetarian (and eat vegan 90% of the time), and have a really hard time getting protein from food (I don't eat beans or eggs). I can usually get about 25 grams of protein a day from food, which is perfectly fine with me most of the time. If I do feel like I need a boost, I do protein drinks (the premade ones don't affect my stomach for some reason) or bars (again, no effect), but I don't like to rely on those because it's basically just a candy bar with protein added to it.
'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather, to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming 'Woohoo! What a ride!' So every day is a holiday and every meal a feast."

I agree. I don't know if I see it here too much, but on the getting in shape board on the knot, I think every single person was downing protein shakes. 20 minutes on the elliptical with little to no resistance? OMG I totally need a protein shake, I worked so haaard! I rolled my eyes at so many comments over there. With the insane workouts some people do here, I totally get having a protein shake.
