I started taking it to help my knee deal with my ITB injury. It was recommended by another runner when she suffered from ITBS. I have no idea if it works or not but I figure it can't hurt and my knee needs all the help it can get. lol

Being over 300lbs for several years has not been kind to my joints, so my knees crackle a lot and would get inflamed/sore whenever I ramped up mileage. It definitely makes my knees feel better when I take it. I used to just take it on running days, but now I take it twice a day all the time.
