Yeah its August 11 for lunch. I actually set a reminder in my calendar for Monday to start polling for locations. People mentioned meeting in Alexandria. I guess we could do it today, hopefully everyone will check in. I have a baby napping on me but I'll put him in his room in a minute and page everyone from my laptop to see where everyone wants to go.
Ok now that I'm on my laptop, any suggestions? Someone suggested Austin Grill but only if we are upstairs because it's loud? I don't know Alexandria very well.
I've never been to DC. What would be the right age to bring my DS so he gets the historical aspect of it all?
I think it really depends. DS is 4 or 5, right? There are things for all ages. At that age, the White House and some museums would be fine. But there's also more complex stuff like the Holocaust Museum which I think I would wait until high school for. I think maybe 3rd or 4th grade would be good so there's some social studies under the belt.
We take my SDs downtown every year since we are here but if I were only to go once I might wait a little bit to get more out of the visit. Also, lots of walking. I like to do stuff that requires pots of walking when the girls are old enough to do it without whining all day but I'm selfish like that lol.
Oh lastly, they have closed White House tours because of the sequestration and the Washington Monument is still being repaired so I think I'd wait until those are back to normal at a minimum cause those are two big ones I think.

I am so sad. I got to work today and realized they scheduled our summer picnic thing on the 11th. While you guys are all having fun I am going to be sweating my ass off at a Nats game.
I am tentative- we have a family wedding that I am really hoping to not go to on Saturday in PA.
We just went to Union Street and it was great. They can easily have large groups and I remember seeing something GF on the menu but I am just not completely sure since I don't usually worry about it I don't make it a point to look. I am an OT whore, I would love to just be able to walk.
VeryViolet- I am still waiting for a post-doc appointment lunch.

I haven't forgotten about you! I am actually going to the doctor today and I think then I start going every two weeks. So I will be downtown all the time. The last few appointments I have been rushing out of the city after because they have been late in the day and I hate traffic. LOL
