I dnf'd my swim today. I'm officially a quitter. I could swim just fine, I just couldn't see anything, even with those prescription goggles. My goggles kept fogging and I kept having to stop to see where I was. I was getting disoriented. A kayaker told me to just look for the boats I couldn't see the damn boats. It was also foggy outside.
Right now I hate myself. Something I'm good at and I quit.
Don't beat yourself up over it! Consider this your miserable workout before the ironman! I know I always have those runs before a race where its like nothing goes right. It just means that things will go super smooth on race day
Stupid goggles!!! Trust me, you are an excellent athlete, just happened to have faulty equipment! Hope the appt. goes well, I know people that have had it done and swear by it. I'm just too chicken shit.

That sounds miserable! Don't be yourself up to hard, it's one swim. It doesn't say anything about who you are as an athlete, or as a person. We just have bad races.
That sucks, but it doesn't mean you can't do it. Just that you had a gear/weather malfunction. Better to work through it and get out all the kinks before IM than not do it to spare yourself the frustration. Hang in there. When I saw your post title I thought you had an injury. This is so much better than that!
Please don't beat yourself up over a practice swim! Of course it is demoralizing but better have something like this happen now than in the race. At least you can fix it now.
