Do they ever stop moving or talking? They being kids. H NEVER stops. Never. I feel like I need to invest in some noise canceling headphones, or Xanax, or Speed. Eating doesn't slow her down, she narrates her own stories while we are reading to her, if she has TV time she's either up jumping around or bopping on the couch, and in the car oh my gosh she's like our personal navigation system. It's incessant, relentless, and its making me crazy.
I make a calm spot for her and try to keep that practice positive, do calming breaths etc, and at the least she's still twitching. This isn't a problem at school or around strangers she's just off her chain at home. It's not a sleep issue and I don't think it is her diet. She gets exercise but I think I need a giant hamster wheel for her.
She is funny, loving, and smart as a whip but I'm EXASPERATED.
I actually said to him the other day, Cruz do you EVER stop talking?!?! And he said, in a practical voice, "when I go to sleep I do!"
ARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!
ETA: we do a lot of exercise, 1hr on his bike every day, and lots of outside/park play. But you know all these things, as a MOOK. School days are good because he does get (somewhat) worn out. With him it's less of a body motion issue, it's his mouth which never stops.

Claire talks alllllll the time. It can be tiresome constantly interacting with her like that. She goes through spurts of running around the house during the day even though she gets plenty of exercise. If she's coloring or playing a game she will be still.

Can we stick them in a room together until they run out of things to say?

I have no idea at what age it slows down.
Well my Boston Terrier stopped bring a spaz around 5..:-)

Hazel talks in her sleep. I shit you not. She wakes up talking and goes to bed talking and talks in the middle of the night.
LOL!!! Hilarious!!
Amongst my friends/school parents with 4 year olds, we are all in the same boat. It is widespread. I think we have until their teens? when they will stop talking all the time and start grunting. The boys, anyway.
No, I've actually asked h if she ever stops talking. When she has been going for a while we play the Quiet game, we both put a hand over our mouths and the first to make a sound loses. It usually clams her down for a bit. Funny thing is she isn't like that at all in school.

We just started this game in the car for when we are in really bad traffic.
You guys are making me feel better. We don't spend much time with other 4 year olds in their natural environments outside of school or birthdays or extra curricular things.

When DS1 gets together with his friends I am amazed at how much they talk. And breathe a sigh of relief and try to sit in the other room, lol. In fact, that any of them can get a word in edgewise with them all carrying on.
With his BFF (my BFF's son) they have actual conversations and it's hilarious. But with the other friends they usually just talk all over each other in their non-stop enthusiasm. It does wear them out at least.

I start thinking about households with large families and I just can't imagine the volume. Maybe some people can tune it out but it gets me really wound up.

Oh my goodness. That sounds terrifying and exhausting. I'm sorry. When does this start!?!? Linus talks up a storm a LOT and has a great vocab already, but he also has a lot of quiet down time. I'll be doing dishes and get that panicked feeling when I realize it's totally quiet in the other room and peek in and they're both sitting there together reading books. I thought they got my shy introvertedness. Am I doomed??? how long do I have to prepare?

Mine started talking non-stop around 3. But he was a late talker so maybe he was making up for lost time. I reckon you're in for it soon, biblio

noooooooo!!!!! I'm not going to lie. I had no idea that kids talked from morning to night lol. I'm the kind of person who can sit alone all day and not say a word. I'm scared. Hug me.

3.5? I don't know. She's always been a talker but this feels elevated. 3.5 was the age she was when her sister was born so I tend to pinpoint that as when the train went off the tracks. Lol.

I am friends with 3 sisters who come from a family of... Like 7 or 8 kids I think?? They talk SO loud and will talk over top of you all. the. time. They are super sweet girls, some of the nicest you would meet... So I don't think it's done to be rude.
One of them told me before that in their house, if you didn't talk over top, you never got to say anything.
Also, out of all 7-ish of them, all were girls except one. Idk if that makes a difference.

Yeah, me too. I like my quiet. Agree with thedahliharpa that it often escalates when a sibling is born. For us it was, DS2 arrived when DS1 turned 3, basically.
First you get the "WHYs" Then the Why + elaboration question. Some make no sense, Mummy, why is that a mailbox? (wtf?!) We're currently in the "Mummy, WATCH ME!!" phase and it's driving me up the wall.

So it's going to be great timing when the 3rd is born a few months before he turns 3 then, right? He's so hilarious right now, but it's probably because he doesn't have a bigger vocab. There is still a lot of "look at meeeeee!" as he stands on top of a stack of books or whatever he decides to do to threaten to injure himself. But it's mostly just funny stuff like "that's awesome dude" randomly for no reason. I suppose when he gets more words/bigger sentences it will come.

L has been a talker from the get go, and I'm a big talker too. So I think she mostly takes after me.

Hearing a lot of this reminds me of conferences with parents. I will tell parents tha their child is quiet in class and needs to speak up more. They give me this dumbfounded open mouth look of disbelief. Apparently quiet child at school talks all day and night at home without slowing down. So on the positive side, there is a good chance that these overly talkative kids won't be the ones disrupting class.
@starbound CH at "Why is that a mailbox"!! I hope you had a good answer!
Our 4yo housemate is not like this but I ran into one at the pool yesterday. Never met the girl in my life but as soon as she spotted me...BAM. I hated to do it but I finally had to start ignoring her. I do not need to know the intricate details of your dollhouse.
