I'm mostly a lurker around here, but need some help.
I am planning a trip in November to London for a few days, then Cork, and Dublin.
My dilemma is that we are trying to use carry on only so I'm starting to think about what I'm going to need and I have no clue what to do for shoes. I live in San Diego, so I don't really have "winter" clothes and will need to buy a few things. I want to try to find shoes to wear that will be comfortable and keep me dry, look good with bootcut jeans (don't want anything too sporty looking), and be useful walking a lot if there are slick surfaces.
When I've been in London and Dublin in the winter, I've mostly worn riding boots. I wear them onto the plane so they don't take up luggage space. It has been cold by San Diego standards, but not anywhere near freezing -- average of low 50s during the day? So I wouldn't worry too too much about slick surfaces. But my boots do well on those when I'm home
I would also wear riding boots but bring a comfortable pair of flats (check out Puma Zandys; they're usually on sale (amazon), great for walking but not too sporty). For travel I usually bring at least two pairs of shoes to rotate through bc no matter how comfy one pair is, typically my feet get tired of them.
