Because stress is bad for preterm labor, but today was so craptastic.
1st at my cervical u/s this am, they couldn't get a good measurement because I was having back to back contractions. The MFM thought that she saw a little funneling of the cervix, but couldn't tell if it was distorted by the contractions. I have followup appointments on Wednesday and then again next Tuesday. I'm so worried about having another preemie.
And, my grandpa had a heart attack yesterday & things are not looking well at all. He is 94 and his body is shutting down. I feel so bad for my mom. And because if the above, I may not be able to travel to see him or for a funeral bc they don't want me too far from home. It's about a 5 hr car trip.
So, I treated myself to a huge bowl of ice cream & feel mug better!
HUGS!!! I'm so sorry you have to worry about this pregnancy. I hope it's not funneling and you get to go to full term! Try to relax and not stress! Rest up!
I'm sorry about your grandfather and that the appointment didn't go well. Are you at a point where you can take some leave from work to rest? Have they talked about the possibility of a cerclage?

Thanks. I'm not a candidate for a cerlage bc of the contractions. I guess that with a IU, they can actually cause the uterus to be come more irritated & worsen the contractions. But, yes, I've talked about a medical leave with my DH & am going to get more info at work tomorrow.

Oh honey, I'm so sorry you're having such complications. I'm still praying for an easier, full term pregnancy for you. Sending love. Also, I'm terribly sorry about your grandfather. I'll be praying for him and your family too.

I'm so sorry this is all crashing in on you.
Can I suggest something that is kind of out there? It is a book called Mind Over Labor and it teaches you how to meditate and gets into guided imagery and things like that. I had/have a really hard time turning off stress and the stressful thoughts and the book kind of breaks it into steps. It also goes further into influencing your body with your mind and though this is where things might get eye roll worthy it wouldn't hurt to come up with a visualization routine of imagining your nicely closed cervix, your baby safe inside your womb, and delivering a full term baby. I know it sounds nutty but the least it could do is give you some tools to fight back the stress. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0140467629

So my dad is a psychiatrist and he believes that kind of stuff can help.
He is also big into biofeedback for calming the mind and body.
