hz80408 I have a question about using your phone in Ireland! I see from your blog about your trip (which looked amazing, btw!) that you used your iPhone in Ireland. I have a smartphone and want to use it when we go back to Ireland in March, and was wondering if you happen to have Verizon, and how that all worked, or if you JUST used wifi. Thanks!
We only used our iphones for WIFI capabilities; although we found that it was pretty easy to find WIFI spots. You can text other iphones (imessages) while on WIFI, so we were able to text our friends/family back home.
For Verizon, whether it will work depends on the type of phone you have. For instance, iPhone 5 will work in Ireland, but iPhone 4 won't.
If you plug in the relevant info here you can see if your phone will work.
Is this for use on WIFI or calling? I used my 4S for WIFI without any issues.
I am talking about voice/data. Wifi will work anywhere (well, assuming you can find a wireless connection) because it has nothing to do with the Verizon network. Verizon voice/data will not work in Europe on many Verizon phones, but it will on some.

If you have an unlocked I phone you can get a local SIM and use a local service. But Verizon usually doesn't provide that phone.
