My PT did ART on it the other day, and I thought I was going to bite a hole in the pillow, it hurt so badly. Now I have to get my lungs back. I really hope running in this heat really will help me in October, otherwise, I am going to have the slowest half marathon in history.

Also - what is the leg of the duathalon like? I was asked to be on a sprint try relay, but we were out of town. I think it would be fun!

You will do awesome. It's such a fun event - I don't know anyone that's had a bad experience. I thought about the 10 mile lottery, but decided my wallet didn't need it with the Monster Dash since it's pretty spendy. To me anyway.
The Du will be fun. I wish my H was on board with racing. He is in the "I am not going to pay someone to run" camp.
I think I should join these posts! I'm training for my first 1/2 marathon.
St.Jude Memphis 1/2 Marathon, 12.7.13.
Schedule: M: NROLFW 1, A1 T: 3 mile Run W: NROLFW 1, B1 T: 2 Mile Run + PM dog walk F: HEAT class Sat: long dog walk/rest Sun: 3 mile run
Problems/issues/vents: nope! except for some chafing from my HRM strap. grr.
Highlights: 3 miles is the longest run so far on my training plan and I felt pretty good (I ran the first 3 mile run on the plan on Sunday)! I kept it slow (around 12:30) and steady. It was hot, so I built in some walking breaks--1.5 minutes when I hit each mile (with the exception of mile 3, then I just started my cool down).

Problems, issues, vents: Just continued venting about the heat. I can't wait until September. My "easy" 5 mile run today was much harder than it should've been.
Highlights from last week: None really... I've been slogging through my runs by sheer willpower.
I alternate between being super excited about the marathon and feeling like I am going to throw up

I wondered if you were going to do the 10 mile lottery, I remembered you mentioning it. I don't blame you on not doing both, races get expensive! We've talked about volunteering at races, I will let you know if we end up volunteering at the Monster Dash
My H has ran a couple of 10ks and 5ks with me, but is not a fan of running overall but has been getting into cycling quite a bit in the past year, so the du is a good fit for us.
What are you training for? Date? 2 5Ks coming up 8/3 & 8/30
Schedule for this week? Hoping to get some running in on Friday but I really have no set schedule this week(Lots going on)
Any problems, issues, or vents? Last week and the beginning of this week were 'lost'. Had friends in from out of town, lots of out to eat, alcohol etc. Back on track as of this morning though, just need to fit in some exercise
Highlights from last week? - Before our company got into town I did go for a run Wednesday. Did my fastest 1m ever at 10:25.
