I have several friends who do crossfit and each one has some sort of scar on their leg where they fell doing box jumps. It's like a badge of honor for them.
I am amazed at people who can do box jumps period. I regularly have trouble with steps, and like katinthehat have a scar down my shin to prove it (missing steps that is).
I have fallen on box jumps at least 10x, but only twice was it bad enough to leave a mark. I'm clumsy as Hell, but also stubborn.
I did slip off the pullup bar (with my foot still in an assist band), fall ONTO the box that was my step up, and manage to knock myself out (along with a host of other injuries). I woke up with 16 people surrounding me and someone dialing 911. Does that make you feel better?

Been there, kinda. I was taking Bodycombat (like kickboxing) and fell flat on my butt during a jump kick. The instructor stopped dead. Then everyone stopped and she was like omg are you ok? I myself teach, so pretty much everyone in the class knew me. Waaaay embarrassing haha ETA: box jumps scare me, so go you!

i almost always miss the box and hit my shins or fall by the 3rd set. if i don't, it makes me think i need to try a higher box. i am a klutz anyway so surrounding me w/ things i could trip over or fall off just adds to the fun
I did a face plant the first time I tried jack knives on a bosu ball. I just rolled over onto my back and started laughing so hard that a guy who had watched me do it wandered over to see if I was ok. I think it looked like I was crying.
That sounds painful. It also sounds like something I could never do in my life. I tripped and fell while running and hit the pavement hard in front of two fine looking fellows. I jumped up and did the whole "I'm fine. I'm fine." thing and walked it off and down the street only to realize I had a sprained ankle as well as a huge river of blood flowing from my knee. Grace is my middle name.
So far I have not fallen off a box. I am terrified of that stupid box and scraping my shins. I tend to get stuck in the band and dangle awkwardly while trying to get my foot out.
I haven't fallen on box jumps yet, but I did miss the ball during wall ball shots yesterday and it landed on my head. And rolled like 10 feet away. I decided I was done with that set after that...

I took a huge chunk out of my shin and bled all over the monster box the guy brought to our gym for a product photoshoot. It was prior to his shoot and they had to try to clean it up
My 59" self probably shouldn't have tried to jump on a 27" box.
I have never fallen off a box but...I have slipped through a pull up band only to be suspended by my crotch...funny for others to watch, painful for me...AND, once we did a workout where we tossed med balls over the pull up rack instead of against the wall and I got two in the face - that shit hurt!
I slapped my ass so hard with a band once that it left a huge welt and everyone laughed. When doing buttblasters, make sure you keep your foot flexed. Very flexed. That hurts.
