My Brazilian friend leaves in 2 weeks and his bathroom needs some help.
Mainly because he got drunk and puked all over my rug and I can't get the smell or the stain out no matter how many times I wash it. Yes it's gross.
He also leaves ALL the towels on his bedroom floor (He's such a Beauty Queen..lol...3 towels to dry off? For real. ). Because he is who he is, his towels only get washed when I scream for them and do it myself. They smell like mildew and have the spots to prove it.
He also insists on showering with the fabric curtain inside the shower, so it stays wet and bottom1/3rd has some weird red mold stuff on it as well. The sun didn't take that stain out and it's black so no bleach.
So it's time to start over before the next kid arrives. New rug, new curtain, new towels.
Bathroom is white beadboard, silver accents, gray/black tile looking floor. One picture that's b&w with a single colored wildflower.
So any color goes.
Suggestions?
And why do boys have to be so gross! Ick. Even my own H is appalled..lol..but he had to scrub bathrooms every Saturday morning for his mom, so his bathroom is cleaner than mine even..ha. He knows better.
Frankly, I'd get a big stack of white towels so they can be bleached, and a vinyl shower curtain with an all over pattern. And a colored rug. Maybe bright green?
I should mention, no white. They will show grease/dirt/barn stains the second anyone wipes their hands on them. Which to me looks terrible on the walkby..like the bathroom is never clean. They also do okay with bleach sometimes but they get so gray from our water fast with too much bleach. I prefer just to get some cheap dorm ones at Target and start over every so often.
I never thought about vinyl shower curtain that is an option. Do you think it's more of a pain to scrub off than just throwing a cheap fabric one in the wash?
I'm not really worried about the next kid. None of my other 5 students had gross bathroom habits..I've been using the same stuff in that bathroom since we started the program..so it's just this kid.
Funny you mention green..that's the color I have now!

Sorry, I totally was all "Yeah! White! Bleach! Love!" and then read your response. I am not a farm girl, I don't get that kind of dirt (though my dad used to ruin things with grease, so there's that).
I am also a fan of green. Or maybe teal? I don't think vinyl curtains are more of a pain than fabric. If they're cheap enough, I usually don't care and just buy new if it gets ruined.

Does Jcp still carry those bright towels? Those things are my favorite. They had a teal, lime green, hot pink and yellow I bought years ago. There are some stains on them but they look better than my white.

If they have spots, I get wanting to throw them out, but if you have a similar situation in the future trying running them in a load with vinegar instead of soap. DH has a habit of throwing a load in and then forgetting about it. Vinegar always takes the smell out and then I wash in regular soap to get the vinegar smell out. Takes an extra wash, but better than having to buy new stuff all the time.

I did that, sunned them on the line, everything. It didn't help. They were on the floor more than a week I'm sure. And like I said above, it's really no big deal, I've been using the same stuff since we started hosting exchange students 5 years ago, and I had them 2 years before that...it's time to start over anyways.
I vote for teal or green. Also, I have these towels from ikea and I love them! They're well-priced, don't show stains and absorb really well. www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/10159198/
