My family used to have a house in the Mashpee area which I always loved (it's located in the "arm flab" area of the Cape) and I've also heard great things about Dennis (in the bicep area).
I always would do a night out in Hyannis and walk along the main road. Lots of cute shops and good restaurants. And Provincetown is fun as well.
Arnold's in Eastham to eat, nothing fancy, but many yummy memories of eating here as a kid. Nauset beach for the bay and Marconi beach for the ocean - both in Orleans. I love shopping in Chatham.

Love Arnold's! DH's aunt and uncle live nearby and recently clued us in to the fact that Arnold's doesn't make their chowder, they buy it in large bags, and we were devastated!

This is not advice on any location, per say, but last week I saw a news report on Great Whites swimming off several Cape Cod beaches. Not trying to be an alarmist But when going to the beach, check for any signs or bulletins about them being in the area. The news report said they are doing aerial monitoring and closing beaches for swimming as necessary, but I was unaware that so many Great Whites (over 30 this year) summered in the oceans off Cape Cod.
It's the ocean. It has sharks. It will not be like sharknado - they won't fly up into the air and descend on the people.
Chatham is by far my favorite town on the Cape. I would especially recommend staying at Chatham Bars Inn if it works for your budget. Chatham is also the only place that there have been consistent shark warnings but I wouldn't let that deter you from staying there.
My fav restaurant is The Ocean House in Dennisport.
If you're looking for a more "happening" spot, Provincetown is popular.
We go to Cape Cod every year since forever (my parents took over my grandparents time share). Specifically, we stay in Brewster. Not quite so touristy & a good location on the mid-Cape.
DH & BIL go to The Lobster Pound in Orleans for their twin lobster special every year. I'm a vegetarian so I'm of no use on the seafood thing personally. But if you're an ice cream fan go to Sundae School. OMG so good! There are actually several locations around the Cape.
For beach we go to the Coast Guard beach. DH loves waves. Be warned you should be a strong swimmer as the currents can be strong. And since it's ocean facing it can be quite chilly. If you're looking for something not quite as cold & a bit calmer I'd rec Skaket beach.
We've done Dolphin Fleet whalewatching in Provincetown in the past.
