My hairdresser told me I have dry hair (luckily not damaged, just dry), so she recommended I get a moisturizing shampoo.
I'll be doing the coconut oil treatment 1x/week, but will I need to continue using my moisturizing shampoo? I'm concerned it will "over moisturize" and will leave my hair greasy and weighed down.
fwiw, I use Dove Intensive Repair shampoo, and Suave Keratin shampoo & conditioner
I think oil keeps the hair from drying out. I am not sure if you will be able to know the difference in weight with extra moisture unless you have really long hair. Moisture doesn't make hair greasy. Oil is the greasy part. I use the same Keratin shampoo and conditioner. It hasn't made much difference other than its frizz management. As usual I can only go 2 days before I have to wash my hair due to greasyness. I would continue to keep using the moisturizing shampoo because your hair is naturally dry to begin with.
