I'm an unhappy. It's a 6 year old Whirlpool Gold and I adored that thing. Spotless glassware, never had a dirty dish left etc. It was amazing.
Two weeks ago I noticed some of the dishes weren't as clean as they should be. Cleaned the obvious dishwasher parts etc. Then I noticed the top rack wasn't coming clean hardly at all. Then I noticed grit on the glassware.
Monday, I went to open it to throw something in and I noticed there was barely any water spraying. Which was weird because that thing used to give me a bath if you'd open the door...lol.
I got annoyed, called the repairman today. He came, looked. Told me it was my water pump. It's a $210.00 part plus $$ labor because it's a PITA to fix. He was upset for me, because it wasn't a crap dishwasher. It's like 3/4s the way up the line in terms of quality.
So I go to his store. Pick out a new one. It'll be here tomorrow.
The good news is, he's the nicest guy ever, so he got me a $150.00 discount from Whirlpool on a new one (The warranty was up, they claimed I must've ran the power scour cycle too often and that dishwashers aren't meant to be run everyday..lol. He called BS and got me some money back! YAY!). He also had a $50.00 rebate going on his store.
I should've researched more options, but honestly, I feel like a dishwasher is a dishwasher at this point. And I can't beat small town service. Same day service, next day install. I almost went to Menard's/Lowe's to check it out but then I'd have no one to fix it down the line either nor would they would b*tch on my behalf.

WHAT? This is news to me. What is the point of having a dishwasher if you can't run it every day? We inherited a really old RCA dishwasher (probably late 80s/early 90s) when we bought our house. As much as I'd love a new shiny pretty one this old one does a great job (and yes I do run it 6 days per week!) so I'm planning to run it into the ground.
That's great that he got you a discount. I hope the new one isn't a lemon and lasts a lot longer.
LOL. Tell me about it. I know, right? The repairman said he was literally rolling his eyes on the phone with customer care. Granted, I am hard on dishwasher. Long wash cycles, run twice a day often etc. but at the same time I'm not do anything the machine wasn't meant to do either. He said I got one of the "new models" for the time and they overall work great, but there have been a few instances of water pumps failing after 5ish years. He said not enough for it to be weird yet, not enough for a recall, but it does happen.
